Defence Living-in Accommodation (LIA) Industry Engagement and Market Sounding

Defence is responsible for providing accommodation solutions for eligible ADF members. LIA is an accommodation option available to ADF members when they are travelling for duty purposes, undertaking training courses or when operational or service reasons require them to stay at Defence establishments. Providing fit for purpose accommodation for ADF members that aligns with community standards directly influences Defence's ability to attract and retain military personnel. Additionally, Defence has a duty of care obligation to supply fit for purpose, standardised LIA for personnel across many Defence locations. Defence has identified an increase to the LIA requirement across Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. The provision of additional LIA in these regions is necessary to meet this requirement (“the Requirement ”). Defence is seeking to identify potential sites (including sites not on the Defence estate) and undertake market engagement to understand viable delivery and financing options to meet this requirement.
