L’Ajuntament d’Olot, en el marc dels seus objectius de foment de la mobilitat sostenible, impulsa la construcció d'una via ciclable segura que permeti connectar la Via Verda (sector del pont de la Ceràmica) amb els sectors perifèrics a l’oest del nucli urbà (carril de bicicletes existent a l’entorn de La Faja, les Planotes i Pisos Garrotxa), i amb l’Hospital d’Olot.
