The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications from Mongolian media institutions to strengthen reporting on business, human rights, and environmental (BHR+E) issues through training, mentorship, youth-led campaigns, and media content development. The initiative aims to promote responsible business practices and strengthen informed public dialogue in Mongolia by bringing together media organisations, universities, youth networks, and private sector stakeholders.

About the UNDP Mongolia Media Initiative

The initiative is designed to strengthen the capacity of Mongolian media institutions to report on issues related to responsible business conduct, human rights, and environmental sustainability. It combines practical training, newsroom mentorship, youth engagement, and small story grants to help participating organisations produce and disseminate quality media content. The programme also encourages collaboration among different stakeholders to support more informed discussion of BHR+E issues across Mongolia. What Does the Initiative Support? The selected media institution will lead a range of activities focused on strengthening BHR+E reporting and communication.

Key components include:

Training Sessions for Journalists and Youth The selected institution will be responsible for organising and delivering at least three in-person training sessions. The sessions will focus on reporting and communicating BHR+E issues.

Participation should include a diverse and gender-balanced group of

- Journalism students. - Young content creators. - Interested youth. The training component is intended to strengthen participants’ ability to understand and communicate issues involving responsible business practices, human rights, and environmental sustainability. Newsroom Mentorship Component The programme includes a mentorship-based newsroom component to support the development and dissemination of editorial content. Through mentorship, participating media organisations will receive support in developing quality content related to BHR+E issues. The newsroom component is intended to connect training with practical media production and help participants apply their knowledge to real reporting and editorial work. Youth-Led Media Campaigns Youth participation is an important part of the initiative. Selected and participating organisations will support youth-led awareness and media campaigns focused on BHR+E topics. These campaigns can help increase public awareness and encourage informed discussions about: - Responsible business conduct. - Human rights. - Environmental sustainability. The approach provides young people with opportunities to contribute directly to public communication on important social, economic, and environmental issues. Small Story Grants and Technical Guidance Participating media organisations will receive small story grants and technical guidance to facilitate the production of quality media content. The support is intended to help organisations develop and disseminate stories covering BHR+E topics. The opportunity is open to Mongolian media institutions that meet the required professional experience and track-record criteria.

Eligible applicants must have:

- At least three years of professional experience in journalism, media training, or communication. - A demonstrated track record in reporting on human rights, environmental, or governance issues. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their capacity to organise training, provide mentorship, engage young people, and support the production and dissemination of relevant media content. Required Project Team

The applicant’s team must include:

- A team lead. - A mentor. - A facilitator. Each team member must meet specific educational and professional experience requirements set out in the call. Applicants should ensure that proposed team members have the relevant qualifications and professional background required for their respective roles. Role of the Selected Media Institution The selected institution will have responsibility for coordinating and delivering the programme activities.

Its responsibilities include:
