The Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Kenya (RWVL-K) initiative is inviting concept proposals from eligible women’s rights organizations and networks in Kenya for flexible, multi-year funding. Successful organizations can receive KES 3 million to KES 4 million over three years to strengthen organizational sustainability, programming, advocacy, women’s leadership, and systemic change.

About the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Kenya Initiative

The Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Kenya (RWVL-K) initiative supports the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s women’s rights movement. The programme is funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Uraia Trust in partnership with CARE, CRAWN Trust, CREAW, and UAF-Africa. Running from 2025 to 2030, the initiative aims to strengthen women’s rights organizations and networks so they can build resilient organizations, improve their programmes, and advocate more effectively for gender equality and women’s rights. What Does the Grant Support? RWVL-K provides flexible, multi-year funding designed to give women’s rights organizations greater flexibility to strengthen their work and respond to changing community and advocacy needs. The multi-year approach allows organizations to invest in longer-term organizational development rather than relying solely on short-term project funding. Grant Amount and Duration

Successful applicants can receive:

Grant amount: KES 3 million to KES 4 million.

Approximate US dollar value: US$22,800 to US$30,400.

Grant period: Three years.

Funding type: Flexible, multi-year grant.

The funding is intended to strengthen both the organizations themselves and their ability to advance women’s rights and leadership. Who Is Eligible? Concept proposals are invited from women’s rights organizations and networks in Kenya that fall within one of the programme’s priority categories.

The four priority categories are:

Young women and feminist-led organizations in Isiolo County. Organizations serving women with disabilities in Laikipia County. National organizations advancing women’s political participation and advocacy. National organizations serving women with disabilities. Applicants should ensure that their organization clearly fits within one of these priority groups before preparing a concept proposal. Priority Groups Young Women and Feminist-Led Organizations RWVL-K specifically seeks to strengthen organizations led by young women and feminist groups working in Isiolo County. This priority recognizes the role of young women in shaping local advocacy, leadership and women’s rights movements. Organizations Serving Women With Disabilities Organizations working to advance the rights and inclusion of women with disabilities are prioritized in Laikipia County. The programme also supports national organizations working with women with disabilities. Organizations Advancing Women’s Political Participation National organizations working to increase women’s participation and influence in political processes are another priority group. Relevant work may include advocacy, leadership development, policy engagement and efforts to remove barriers to women’s political participation.
