Call for Proposals: Micro-Grants for Child-Sensitive Justice and Protection in Ukraine

Global Rights Compliance is inviting applications from Ukrainian civil society organisations for micro-grants supporting documentation and advocacy initiatives related to crimes against children affected by deportation and related conduct. The scheme supports civil society organisations working to strengthen justice and accountability for children affected by deportation, forcible transfer, militarisation, and indoctrination. Selected organisations will receive financial support as well as mentorship, legal advice, and technical assistance to strengthen their documentation and advocacy work.

About the Micro-Grant Scheme

The Micro-Grant Scheme is part of the EU-funded project “No Child Forgotten: Strengthening Child-Sensitive Justice and Protection Responses to Deportation in Ukraine.” The project responds to the need for specialised, trauma-informed, and rights-based approaches to justice for children affected by conflict and deportation in Ukraine. It focuses particularly on children affected by large-scale displacement and forcible transfer, including children from vulnerable backgrounds who may experience serious violations of their rights and psychosocial well-being. What Is the Purpose of the Grant? The scheme aims to empower Ukrainian civil society organisations to develop and implement initiatives that contribute to justice outcomes for children affected by international crimes.

Supported work can address:

- Deportation. - Forcible transfer. - Militarisation. - Indoctrination. - Rights violations affecting children. - Child-sensitive justice and protection. - Documentation and accountability. - Advocacy for child victims of international crimes. In addition to financial support, selected CSOs will receive ongoing guidance from Global Rights Compliance. How Much Funding Is Available? The total funding available under the scheme is EUR 45,000.

Individual micro-grants can provide:

- Up to EUR 35,000 per project - Up to 100% of eligible costs - An indicative implementation period of 6–10 months The final grant amount will depend on the proposed activities, their relevance to the objectives of the scheme, and the applicant’s capacity to implement the project. Payment arrangements will be determined following due diligence.

Priority Area 1: Documentation

Applicants can propose projects focused on documenting deportation-related crimes against and affecting children in Ukraine. Documentation initiatives should contribute to stronger evidence, understanding, and accountability concerning crimes and violations affecting children. Projects should use appropriate methodologies that recognise the specific experiences and needs of children affected by conflict and deportation.

Priority Area 2: Advocacy and Campaigning

The second priority area focuses on advocacy and campaigning.

Projects can seek to advance:

- Child-friendly justice. - The rights of child victims of international crimes. - Justice outcomes for children affected by deportation and related conduct. - Greater recognition of children’s specific protection and justice needs. Advocacy initiatives should contribute to strengthening responses to international crimes affecting children. Gender and Intersectional Approach All proposed methodologies must incorporate a gender and intersectional lens. Applicants should recognise that children can experience conflict, deportation, and related violations differently depending on factors such as: - Gender. - Disability. - Age. - Sexual orientation. - Identity. Projects should therefore account for the diverse experiences and circumstances of affected children when developing documentation, advocacy, and campaigning approaches. What Additional Support Is Available? The Micro-Grant Scheme provides more than financial assistance. Selected Ukrainian CSOs will receive ongoing support from Global Rights Compliance, including: - Mentorship. - Legal advice. - Technical assistance. - Support to strengthen documentation outputs. - Support to strengthen advocacy outputs. This combination of funding and specialist assistance is intended to help organisations produce robust documentation and effective advocacy outcomes. Who Can Apply? The scheme is open to Ukrainian civil society organisations with demonstrated expertise relevant to the objectives of the programme. Eligible organisations should have experience in areas such as: - Documentation. - Advocacy. - Child protection. Applicants must also demonstrate the capacity to deliver the proposed activities and contribute to the objectives of the Micro-Grant Scheme. What Will Applications Be Assessed On? The selection process will consider several aspects of each proposal and applicant.

Key considerations include:

- Quality of the proposal. - Relevance to the priority areas. - Feasibility of the proposed activities. - Applicant’s organisational capacity. - Ability to deliver the proposed project. - Relevance of the proposed work to justice outcomes for affected children. Applicants should therefore present a clear and realistic project that demonstrates both relevance and implementation capacity. Implementation Period The indicative implementation period for supported projects is 6–10 months. Applicants should develop a realistic activity plan that can be completed within the proposed implementation period and aligns with the objectives of the scheme.
