This initiative under the Eighth Operational Phase (OP8) offers grants ranging from US$5,000 to US$75,000 for projects addressing environmental issues while fostering social inclusion and gender equality. The deadline for submission is 30 October 2026. The GEF SGP aims to support community-based projects that address environmental challenges such as biodiversity loss, land degradation, climate change, and pollution from chemicals and waste. These projects should also contribute to improving local livelihoods while promoting social inclusion and gender equality. The programme provides financial support ranging from US$5,000 to US$75,000 for each selected project. This funding is intended to empower communities to implement solutions that address both environmental and social issues, ensuring sustainable development. Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations legally registered in Malawi. Projects must be based in the districts of Mzimba, Rumphi, and Nkhata Bay. Proposals focusing on sustainable urban solutions can also be implemented in Blantyre, Zomba, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu.
