The India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) is inviting nominations for the ISGF Innovation Awards 2027, which recognize organizations, projects, products, and individuals contributing to innovation across India’s electricity, gas, water, and e-mobility sectors. Since 2017, the awards have recognized outstanding achievements that have contributed to innovation and transformation across these sectors. Up to 2026, the awards have recognized more than 423 entities and personalities for their contributions. The 11th Edition of the ISGF Innovation Awards will recognize winners at a ceremony on 09 April 2027 during The Energy Singularity Summit (TESS 2027) in New Delhi.
About the ISGF Innovation Awards 2027
The ISGF Innovation Awards celebrate innovative projects, technologies, organizations, and individuals contributing to the transformation of India’s energy and utility sectors.
The awards cover innovation across:
- Electricity. - Gas. - Water. - E-mobility. The programme provides recognition to completed projects and demonstrated solutions that have delivered innovation, impact, and potential for wider application. Who Can Apply? The awards are open to organizations and individuals working on projects in India.
Eligible applicants and nominees include:
- Public utilities. - Private utilities. - Urban local bodies. - Technology companies. - EPC contractors. - Start-ups. - Incubators. - Researchers. - Municipalities. - Funding agencies. - Academic institutions. Nominations should relate to completed projects or demonstrated solutions. What Types of Projects Are Recognized? The ISGF Innovation Awards cover a broad range of innovation areas related to energy, utilities, technology, and the transition toward more sustainable systems.
Categories include:
- Smart grid projects. - Renewable energy. - Smart technology. - Electric mobility. - Artificial intelligence and robotics. - Start-up and incubator achievements. - Innovative financing for energy transition. - Waste-to-energy initiatives. - Outstanding women in energy and utilities. These categories provide opportunities for different types of organizations and professionals to showcase their contributions to India’s energy and utility sectors. Smart Grid and Energy Innovation The awards recognize innovative smart grid and energy projects that demonstrate practical solutions and meaningful sectoral impact. Projects may demonstrate advancements in areas such as smart technologies, renewable energy, energy transition, and other solutions contributing to the modernization of India’s energy systems. Electric Mobility Innovation Electric mobility is another focus area of the awards. Organizations and projects demonstrating innovative solutions in e-mobility can use the awards to showcase their contribution to the development and transformation of India’s transportation and energy ecosystem. Artificial Intelligence and Robotics The awards also recognize applications of artificial intelligence and robotics. This category provides an opportunity for organizations, technology companies, researchers, and other eligible participants to highlight demonstrated solutions using advanced technologies. Start-ups and Incubators Start-ups and incubators can also receive recognition for their achievements. The category highlights innovative contributions from emerging companies and organizations supporting entrepreneurship and new technology solutions in the energy and utility sectors. Innovative Financing for Energy Transition The awards recognize innovative approaches to financing the energy transition. Projects and solutions demonstrating new or effective financing approaches can be nominated under this category. Waste-to-Energy Initiatives Waste-to-energy projects are included among the award categories. The category provides recognition for demonstrated initiatives that contribute to innovation in waste management and energy generation. Outstanding Women in Energy and Utilities The awards also recognize Outstanding Women in Energy and Utilities, providing a dedicated category for women making significant contributions to the sector. ISGF President’s Award The ISGF President’s Award for the Best Contribution towards Energy Transition in India is selected directly by ISGF. This award does not require nominations. The recipient is selected by ISGF based on its own assessment of contributions toward India’s energy transition. How Are Award Winners Selected? Each award category recognizes excellence at three levels:
- Diamond: 1st rank.
- Platinum: 2nd rank.
- Gold: 3rd rank.
Nominations are evaluated using several criteria to assess the quality, impact, and potential of the proposed project or solution. What Are the Evaluation Criteria? The evaluation considers factors including: - Project scale and completion. - Functionalities and features. - Technical impact. - Societal impact. - Commercial impact. - Innovation. - Scalability. These criteria allow the jury to assess both the innovation itself and the broader contribution of the project or solution. What Is the Selection Process? The selection process is conducted by a jury consisting of distinguished experts.
The process involves:
- Submission of nominations. - Evaluation of nominations against the award criteria. - Selection of candidates for further consideration. - Invitation of selected candidates to a presentation round. - Assessment by the expert jury. - Selection of award winners at Diamond, Platinum, and Gold levels. The presentation round provides selected candidates with an opportunity to present their projects and solutions to the jury. When Will the Awards Be Presented?
