The CRI Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career scientists developing expertise at the intersection of cancer immunology, immunology, computational biology, data science, and genomics. The three-year fellowship is designed to train researchers who can combine biological and quantitative approaches to advance the discovery and development of cancer immunotherapies. The fellowship provides annual stipends of $74,000, $76,000, and $78,000 over three years, plus a $5,000 annual institutional allowance. There are no citizenship restrictions, and eligible fellows can conduct their research in the United States or abroad. The programme was established to develop a new generation of scientists with dual expertise in immunology and data science. The fellowship can be undertaken:
In the United States, or At an eligible institution abroad. Applicants should have less than five years of mentored research experience at the time the fellowship is activated. Time spent in M.D. residency is excluded from this calculation. Applicants should therefore carefully calculate their qualifying mentored research experience before applying. Fellows must conduct their research under an eligible sponsor.
The sponsor must:
Have a formal appointment as an assistant professor or higher. Be based at a non-profit institution. Provide the appropriate research environment and supervision for the proposed fellowship. Only one fellow per sponsor may apply in each application round. Researchers should coordinate with their proposed sponsor before submitting an application. The proposed research must be directly connected to immunology or cancer immunology and relevant to addressing the cancer problem.

Hypothesis-driven. Focused on basic or translational cancer immunology. Relevant to understanding the immune system’s role in cancer. Based on innovative technologies or computational methods. The annual stipend is:

In addition, fellows receive a $5,000 annual institutional allowance. The institutional allowance can be used for eligible expenses such as: Research supplies. Conference travel. Health insurance. Childcare. Administrative overhead or indirect costs cannot be deducted from either the fellowship stipend or institutional allowance. The fellowship includes dedicated support for fellows to participate in the CRI Bioinformatics Bootcamp. The bootcamp provides an additional training opportunity for researchers developing computational and bioinformatics expertise relevant to cancer immunology. This training complements the fellowship’s broader goal of developing scientists who can work across biological and quantitative disciplines. The programme combines financial support with interdisciplinary research training.
A successful fellow:
Conducts a hypothesis-driven cancer immunology project. Works under an eligible academic sponsor. Develops expertise in computational and quantitative methods. Applies innovative technologies or computational approaches. Addresses a defined gap in cancer immunology.
