Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking competitive tenders from suitably qualified and experienced electrical contractors for the design and replacement of existing electrical distribution board SP-3-3-21, located within the A Block Lower Basement Plant Room at St Helier Hospital.
The works comprise the provision of a complete, fully compliant and operational electrical distribution installation and shall include, but not be limited to:
Detailed surveys, investigations, circuit tracing and verification of the existing electrical installation. Load monitoring and confirmation of existing and proposed electrical demand. Detailed electrical design, calculations and coordination with the existing hospital electrical infrastructure. Discrimination and protection coordination studies. Supply and installation of a new Form 4 compartmentalised panel board, nominally rated at 250A, subject to Contractor design verification. Provision of a new outgoing protective device from PB-2-1 and all associated modifications. Installation of approximately 50 metres of 120mm² 4-core XLPE/SWA/LSF submain cable, subject to final design and site verification. Provision of a separate CPC, subject to final design calculations. New cable containment, supports, brackets and associated infrastructure where required. CT metering enclosure and associated metering provisions. Cable termination chambers and associated accessories. Identification, isolation, disconnection, transfer, reconnection and testing of all retained outgoing circuits from SP-3-3-21. Removal and lawful disposal of the existing distribution board and redundant associated equipment. Earthing and bonding modifications. Builder's work, fire stopping and making good. Full inspection, testing, commissioning, operational proving and certification. Thermographic inspection following energisation. Record drawings, O&M documentation, asset information, training and handover.
The works will be undertaken within a live operational acute hospital environment. Particular importance shall therefore be placed on continuity of electrical supplies and management of shutdown risk.
The Contractor shall undertake a comprehensive Isolation Impact Assessment and develop detailed switching, shutdown, temporary-supply, contingency and rollback arrangements in conjunction with the Trust's Authorised Person (Electrical), Estates representatives and affected clinical/service stakeholders.
Tenderers shall include for all temporary electrical supplies necessary to maintain critical and operational services, which may include temporary distribution boards, cabling, generators and/or UPS systems where identified through survey and detailed planning.
Tenderers shall allow for shutdowns, circuit transfers and commissioning activities to be undertaken outside normal working hours, including nights and weekends, where required by the Trust to minimise disruption to clinical services.
The Contractor shall provide all labour, management, supervision, plant, materials, temporary works, specialist attendance, design, testing and documentation required to deliver a complete installation in accordance with the tender specification, drawings, CDM Pre-Construction Information and associated Contract Documents.
