About the MTN Changemakers Project

The MTN Changemakers Project is designed to inspire hope and promote sustainable community development across Uganda. The programme supports local initiatives that respond to pressing community challenges and create lasting benefits for people and communities. Projects are expected to demonstrate sustainability, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and active involvement from local leaders. Support is provided directly through in-kind donations to help successful applicants implement their proposed community initiatives. What Does the Project Support? Projects must align with the MTN Foundation’s priority areas, including: - Economic empowerment - Education - Health - Agriculture - Water - Environment Applicants should demonstrate how their proposed initiative will address a genuine community need and create a direct and sustainable benefit for beneficiaries. Funding and In-Kind Support The MTN Changemakers Project does not provide cash grants. Selected projects can receive in-kind donations with an implementation value of up to UGX 20,000,000.

Key Areas of Focus Economic Empowerment Projects can support initiatives that improve economic opportunities, livelihoods, and community-level economic development. Education Initiatives that address educational needs and improve access to learning opportunities can be considered. Health Projects can focus on community health needs and initiatives that contribute to improved quality of life. Agriculture Agricultural initiatives that contribute to livelihoods, productivity, sustainability, or local economic development may be eligible. Water Projects addressing community water needs can be proposed under the programme. Environment Environmental initiatives that contribute to sustainable communities and improved environmental conditions are also supported. Sustainability and Community Impact The MTN Changemakers Project places importance on the long-term impact of supported initiatives.

Applicants should demonstrate:

- A clear and pressing community need. - Sustainable benefits for beneficiaries. - Meaningful stakeholder engagement. - Active participation from local leadership. - A practical approach to implementation. - Direct and measurable benefits for the community. The programme seeks to support initiatives that can continue to create positive outcomes beyond the initial implementation period. Who Can Apply? Applicants must meet the following requirements: - Be a Ugandan citizen. - Be 18 years of age or older. - Propose a project based in Uganda. - Ensure the project complies with all applicable local laws and regulations. - Submit a project that can be implemented within the programme’s required timeframe. - Ensure the project’s implementation value does not exceed UGX 20 million. Both individuals and organisations can apply, provided they meet the programme requirements. Who Is Not Eligible? Projects or applicants may be disqualified where they do not meet the programme conditions.

- Applicants with criminal records. - Projects with an implementation value above UGX 20 million. - Projects requiring more than three months to complete. - Multiple entries for the same project. - Projects that do not comply with applicable laws and regulations. Applicants should submit only one entry for a particular project because multiple entries for the same project will result in disqualification. How to Apply? Applications can be submitted through several channels. Online Application Applicants can submit their application online through the MTN website. WhatsApp Application Applicants can also apply through WhatsApp by submitting a video presenting their project. Hard Copy Application A completed hard copy application form can be delivered to the nearest MTN Service Centre. Applicants should ensure that the information provided is complete and accurately represents the proposed initiative. Important Application Conditions Applicants should keep the following conditions in mind: - There is no application or entry fee. - Only one entry should be submitted for the same project. - Projects must be located in Uganda. - The project must comply with local laws and regulations. - The implementation value must not exceed UGX 20 million. - The project must be completed within three months. - Support is provided through in-kind donations rather than cash. - Applicants with criminal records are automatically disqualified.
