The Peter Rule Fund provides grants for projects and activities that support the wellbeing, advancement, and security of Rainbow, Takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for eligible organisations and groups undertaking clearly defined projects, education, research, events, or initiatives that address identified community needs, with larger grants possible in exceptional circumstances. What Is the Peter Rule Fund? The Peter Rule Fund supports initiatives that aim to improve the wellbeing and advancement of Rainbow, Takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities. The fund recognises that these communities can experience unique social, cultural, educational, and community challenges. It provides financial support for projects and activities designed to address identified needs and create tangible benefits. Funding is intended for specific initiatives rather than general organisational operations. Applicants should be able to clearly explain what they want to achieve, how the project will be delivered, what resources are required, and how the initiative aligns with the Foundation’s priorities. Who Are the Communities Supported?

The fund is focused on:

- Rainbow communities - Takatāpui communities - MVPFAFF+ communities The program supports initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing, advancement, participation, security, and recognition of these communities. Why It Matters Community organisations and groups often develop projects to respond directly to the needs of the people they serve. However, smaller initiatives may face difficulties securing funding for research, education, community activities, events, and other targeted projects. The Peter Rule Fund helps address this gap by providing grants for clearly defined initiatives that can demonstrate a tangible community benefit.

The funding can help groups:

- Respond to identified community needs. - Develop educational initiatives. - Conduct relevant research. - Strengthen community wellbeing. - Support community events and activities. - Improve security and stability for projects or events. - Advance initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s priorities. What Types of Projects Can Be Supported? The fund supports projects and activities that address identified needs within Rainbow, Takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities. Potentially supported initiatives may include: Education and Research The fund supports education and research relating to issues affecting Rainbow, Takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities. Projects should demonstrate a clear purpose and explain how the research or educational activity will contribute to community wellbeing or advancement. Community Projects and Activities Funding can support specific projects and activities that make a tangible difference to the communities served. Applicants should clearly explain the problem or need being addressed and describe the intended outcomes. Events and Project Security The fund encourages applications that seek to provide additional security for projects or events. Applicants requesting this type of support should explain why the additional resources are needed and how they will contribute to the safe and successful delivery of the initiative. What Are the Main Grant Requirements? Projects should have three important characteristics: - A specific purpose. - A defined timeframe. - Clearly identified resource requirements. The proposed initiative should also align with the Foundation’s priorities and address an identified need within the relevant communities. Applicants should demonstrate that they have the capability and resources necessary to deliver the project successfully. How Much Funding Is Available? The Peter Rule Fund provides grants of up to: $5,000 per grant. In exceptional circumstances, applicants may be considered for amounts above $5,000. Applicants seeking a larger amount should provide a strong justification for the additional funding and clearly demonstrate the scale, importance, and expected impact of the proposed initiative. Who Is Eligible? The fund is intended for organisations and groups, rather than individuals or commercial businesses. Eligible applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can deliver the proposed project and achieve its stated objectives.

Applicants should therefore have:

- A clearly defined project. - Identified community needs. - Specific objectives and expected outcomes. - A realistic timeframe. - Clearly identified resource requirements. - The ability to deliver the proposed activities. - Alignment with the Foundation’s priorities. Who Is Not Eligible? The fund does not support applications from: - Individuals. - Commercial entities. The funding is focused on community-oriented organisations and groups rather than private or commercial activities. Can Larger Organisations Hold Funds for Smaller Groups? Yes. Larger organisations may act as fund holders for smaller initiatives. This arrangement can allow smaller community-led projects to access funding when they may not have the administrative or financial infrastructure required to manage a grant independently. Where a larger organisation acts as a fund holder, the arrangement should clearly support the smaller initiative and its intended community outcomes. Are Operational Costs Funded? No. Operational costs are not funded through the Peter Rule Fund. Applicants should therefore distinguish between costs directly associated with the proposed project and general organisational operating expenses. The application should focus on specific project-related resource requirements rather than routine organisational expenditure. Bank Account Requirement The bank account used for donations must be held in the organisation’s name. Applicants should ensure that their financial arrangements meet this requirement when applying for or administering funding. Where a larger organisation is acting as a fund holder for a smaller initiative, the funding arrangem
