Details

The Gauteng Provincial Library and Information Services, under the Gauteng Department of Sport, Culture and Recreation, invites registered Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) to submit funding proposals for implementing reading programmes aimed at promoting a culture of reading in the Gauteng City region. This initiative supports the government’s priority to enhance community living standards and reduce crime through literacy and education. Proposals must be submitted by 7 November 2026. The funding aims to restore and promote a culture of reading by supporting projects that address literacy challenges and foster appreciation for literature in the Gauteng City region. The initiative is part of the government’s effort to strengthen communities by reducing crime and improving living standards, particularly in townships, informal settlements, and hostels (TISH). Selected NPOs will receive financial support to implement reading programmes designed to bolster societal knowledge and empowerment. Projects should align with the Government of National Unity’s priorities, including inclusive growth, job creation, poverty reduction, and building a capable state. This opportunity is vital for NPOs aiming to make a significant impact on literacy and education in disadvantaged communities within the Gauteng region. By participating, organizations contribute to societal empowerment and crime reduction through education. Who can apply for this funding? Registered NPOs based in Gauteng are eligible to apply. What is the deadline for proposal submission? All proposals must be submitted by 7 November 2026. How should proposals be submitted? Proposals must be delivered in person to the specified address. Email and fax submissions will not be considered. What documents are required for the application? Necessary documents include NPO registration, tax clearance, a CSD report, and ID copies of project coordinators. What happens if I don’t receive a response? If you do not receive feedback within 60 days post-deadline, consider your proposal unsuccessful. Interested NPOs should review the official guidelines and prepare their proposals according to the specified requirements. For further clarification, contact Mr. Nthekge Baloyi at (011) 355 2748 or [contact details removed], or Majane Lebona at 011355 2637 or [contact details removed].
