About the Organization
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized UN agency working to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security worldwide. FAO leads global efforts to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. World Food Day, observed annually on 16 October, is an FAO initiative to raise awareness of global food security issues and promote actions worldwide to combat hunger and malnutrition.
About the Contest
FAO invites children and youth aged 5–19 from anywhere in the world to create a poster reflecting the theme "Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow." The contest explores how innovation — whether through technology, ideas, science, or traditional knowledge — can help feed the world, protect the planet, and build a better future. Participants are encouraged to be creative and bold in showing their vision of tomorrow. Age Categories The competition is divided into four categories: - 5 to 8 years - 9 to 12 years - 13 to 15 years - 16 to 19 years
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to children and youth aged 5–19, living anywhere in the world - Age is declared as of the time of entering the Contest - Minors must have permission from parents or legal guardians to participate Poster Submission Guidelines - Posters may be drawn, painted, or sketched using pens, pencils, crayons, charcoal, oil, acrylic, or watercolour paint, or mixed media; digitally created artwork is also permitted - No photographs allowed - No AI-generated content allowed (photorealistic imagery, graphics, or other AI-generated artistic media); AI may only be used for ideation or editing, and such use must be disclosed - Text (if used) must not exceed 25 words or 100 characters; no personal information (names, school names, age, etc.) should be included - Artwork must be original; no logos or photographic images of the contestant or others - Only one entry per person — multiple entries result in disqualification - Submissions accepted only as digital JPEG files through the official online entry form (no physical posters accepted) For more information, please check the link: Applications Invited for World Food Day Poster Contest 2026
