Les Gouvernements de la République Islamique de Mauritanie a reçu un financement du Groupe de la Banque Africaine de Développement afin de couvrir le coût de réalisation du Projet d’Interconnexion Électrique en 225 kV Mauritanie-Mali et de développement des centrales solaires associées (PIEMM) qui s’inscrit dans le cadre des Programmes Nationaux de Développement du secteur de l’énergie électrique en Mauritanie et au Mali.
Une partie du montant du financement reçu est rétrocédée à la Société Mauritanienne de l’Électricité (SOMELEC-Société mère), qui est l’Agence d’exécution en charge de la réalisation dudit projet.
