HCLFoundation, under its flagship programme Samuday, invites proposals from NGOs / CSR organizations working in field of solid waste management for implementation of an integrated model for waste management in Lakhimpur Khiri district of Uttar Pradesh.

HCLFoundation requests for proposal from eligible NGOs/CSR implementing agencies for system strengthening, assessment, gap identification and implementation of an integrated model for waste management. HCLFoundation’s response towards waste management and its ecosystem will include:

Swachh Bharat Mission (both urban and rural) was contemplated as People’s movement (Jana Andolan) for ensuring 100% hygiene, waste management and sanitation across the country. For effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission, ULBs play a significant role in obtaining the active participation of the Ward Committees, Area Sabha(s), Resident Welfare Associations, NGOs and Civil Society Groups.

Poor sanitation has significant health costs and untreated sewage from cities has been the single biggest source of water resource pollution in our country that lead to severe health hazards. The district of Lakhimpur Khiri has 12 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and HCLFoundation, through its flagship program Samuday, has been working with one of the ULBs with an aim of achieving total solid and liquid waste management in the area. With Lakhimpur Khiri being a peri-urban area, ULBs of the district face specific challenges unique to their local context. Some of the challenges include infrastructure deficits, limited resource and funds, rapid industrialization and unplanned sewage treatment, limited knowledge and awareness on hygiene practices among communities and may more.
